Movies come at us pretty fast, if we don’t stop to do our research and prepare ourselves we might miss some good ones and get taken advantage of by the sh*tty ones. So, sleep soundly, The Preview Review is here to save you time, money and energy. Here’s to a movie life well spent.

MAY 6th

Thor. Are we really excited for the big screen adaptation, or is it just an inevitable reality we have forced upon us because it’s a set up for the wet-ourselves-just-thinking-about-it Avengers mega-movie?

Then there’s The Beaver. Mel Gibson is trying to damage control is public perception in a very unique way: making a this-character-is-pretty-much-me fictional version of his very real breakdown. But, is it a good movie? And, would we see it if he wasn’t in it?

Finally, pure Grindhouse awesomeness. Rutger Hauer is a vigilante homeless guy with a shotgun and no patience. How can it NOT be amazing?

Scream 4 Movie Film Poster The Conspirator Movie Film Rio Movie Film Poster

Scream 4, obviously an easy money-grab sequel, but is there something worth our time and energy in return? 15 years ago Scream really did change the rules of the movie game. Not just for the horror genre, but for how casting affecting marketing and how the Gen-X attitude captured the mood of the times. Can this quadquel do the same, or will it be a victim of the meta it created?

Also, there’s the Robert Redford I-direct-movies-when-I-feel-bored Lincoln assassination historic courtroom drama The Conspirator. Followe by the obvious box office winner, Rio, an animated CGI animals-doing-cute things-adventure-voiced-by-a-ton-of-actors-making-some-easy-money.

APRIL 1st

Hop Movie Film Poster Rubber Movie Film Poster Source Code Movie Film Super Movie Film Poster The Last Godfather Movie Film Insidious Movie Film Wrecked Movie Film Poster Trust Film Movie

One of the busiest movie weeks of the year is made up mostly of smaller projects like the Kick-Ass inspired Rainn Wilson starring as an Average Joe tries to be a Superhero comedy Super. David Schwimmer, yes, THAT David Schwimmer, directs a hardcore unflinching drama about the dangers of making friends on the internet in Trust. There’s Rubber, an off-the-wall story about a car tire with telekinetic powers which are usually activated to blow up people’s heads, a sure-to-be-number-one-at-the-Box-Office CGI animated Easter Bunny themed Hop and a few others worth reviewing.
